Reflection: Green Project by Dave Nielsen

Environment and all living things are connected each other even human being is definitely improving and taking the advantage that we have thoughts and knowledge how to take and improve in a certain environment with the thoughts that what ever the environment any living things should adopt the behaviors in a certain environment. Nowadays damage is definitely observed in your surroundings but we adopting it to maintain our needs in a certain environment. We humans had a potential to care and to improve our environment doing exploration and experiment for the sake of our earth to be a last long but other side of us human are very hazardous, we do actually damaging and destroying our environment the fact that we also need to be hazardous for our survival. Even though our environment now is critically damage we need to apply and implement activities or machine that will help it, now many invention minimizing the hazardous element from the machines and establishment which defecting our ozone layer.

We need to act and move for the sake of our environment, Many concern scientists and companies producing alternative equipment which can be the source of our households energy or even for manufacturing, transportation, and even heavy mechanical machine which affecting our environment. Reduction in fossil fuel consumption to produce electricity gives a big breathe for us humans this will benefit our future needed such as foods the air we breathe and specially the species here on earth. SOLAR FARMING. This equipment minimizing the hazardous and also helping us to save money, solar farming are implemented at this time, some of it were constructed at high areas which can absorbed and take high sun raise for the equipment to be able to supply more and enough energy. The eligibility restrictions based on income caps have been lifted. This means all residential and small business sites, and farms that have a connection to the electricity grid are now able to take advantage of these new schemes. Many of these plants are integrated with agriculture and some use innovative tracking the systems that follow sun's daily path across the sky to generate more electricity than conventional fixed-mounted systems. There are no fuel costs or emissions during operation of the power stations. This king of farming is not easy as you think it composed of high quality of photo voltaic equipment which covert suns raise into electric energy it needs a large area for the complete farming although it is not comparable of the hydro electric power plant which producing high amount of energy but the beautiful fact of it is not damaging and conquering of the most valuable species like water life forms. Since this kind of energy source built in any area that not covered by any thing like plants and plain area so it can be considered as one of the eco friendly energy source now. It can help our environment and also for our future days. Although it is expensive but future cannot be bought by any thing on this world.

Multiprogramming is way to run multi programs simultaneously. It give you feel that all your programs running simultaneously. For example windows is a multiprogramming environment in which you could. Multiprogramming makes efficient use of the CPU by overlapping the demands for the CPU and its I/O devices from various users. It attempts to increase CPU utilization by always having something for Multiprogramming. Multiprogramming is a feature of an OS which allows running multiple programs simultaneously on 1 CPU. So, say, you may be typing in word, listing to music while in background IE. Time-sharing operating system (time-sharing system) - 70 since the mid - "Time-sharing" means: Time-sharing refers to the use of multiple users sharing the in Computers.

-Two potential problems in this kind of environment are:

1) One user can copy another user's program / memory space. This could be very detrimental if, for example, an administrator was running a decryption protocol, and another user stole the decryption program and/or key. Multiprogramming is a rudimentary form of parallel processing in which several programs are run at the same time on a uniprocessor. Since there is only one processor , there can be no true simultaneous execution of different programs. Instead, the operating system executes part of one program, then part of another, and so on. To the user it appears that all programs are executing at the same time. If the machine has the capability of causing an interrupt after a specified time interval, then the operating system will execute each program for a given length of time, regain control, and then execute another program for a given length of time, and so on. In the absence of this mechanism, the operating system has no choice but to begin to execute a program with the expectation, but not the certainty, that the program will eventually return control to the operating system. If the machine has the capability of protecting memory , then a bug in one program is less likely to interfere with the execution of other programs. In a system without memory protection, one program can change the contents of storage assigned to other programs or even the storage assigned to the operating system. The resulting system crashes are not only disruptive, they may be very difficult to debug since it may not be obvious which of several programs is at fault.

2) Resource usage may not be completely controlled, and could cause deadlock for certain users. For example, if user A had resource 1 and was waiting for resource 2 and user B had Resource 2 and was waiting for resource 1, deadlock would occur and neither user would be able to make progress in their program, no matter how many time slots they were allocated. When more than one users share it resources then it means that they are sharing computer's time. So time sharing systems allow multi-user to use computer resources by multitasking. All the users can perform different task by sharing in Software.

Two Professionals that I selected:

  • A delivery person for a courier service

Delivery person is people who transport goods and materials from one person to another. Their work varies according to their employer's business needs and transactions. They are usually needed to drive along the same routes but that too can change according to delivery lots. They may also be required to work during night shifts, early morning, weekends and holidays. A delivery driver can be a high school graduate or even basic literate but most importantly he needs to have a valid driving license (a CDL in case of heavy transport vehicles) and must fulfil all the norms laid out for this kind of job. He should be above a minimum age limit, usually 18. Delivery drivers should have good interpretational skills and should be able to read road maps efficiently. They should have good driving records and sound work ethic. They also offer some additional mail-related services. Actually by every delivery of a delivery person encoded into their server that have the information of what he delivering after the customers receive their item delivery personnel will send a message using their communication gadgets while in their confirmation will be detected by any personnel which accompany by delivery person into their computer.

  • A newspaper reporter

A newspaper reporter, Under the direction of an editor, NEWSPAPER REPORTERS gather and analyze facts about current events through interviews, investigations, or observations and write stories describing the events, background, meaning, and effects. They are assigned breaking news developments such as disasters, crime, and human interest. They take notes or use a tape Recorder while covering a story. They check reference materials such as books, news files, and public records including criminal and civil court files for additional relevant facts. Basic tasks of reporters involve viewing events objectively, reporting them accurately, and explaining their significance. Although electronic technology has brought change to the newspaper office, it has not diminished the need for reporters. Automation has eliminated the legendary clamor of the large newsroom in favor of a more high-tech information producing operation. Reporters often work unscheduled overtime, and must have a high energy level to keep up with the fast pace of this occupation. They must also be prepared to work under stressful situations such as earthquakes, fires, floods, shoot-outs, and other dangerous conditions. Reporters work both indoors and outdoors, dealing with all kinds of people. They may work for long periods on unproductive leads. Editors have the option of revising, shortening, or deleting their stories from the newspaper. The newspaper reporter might use a hand held computer in their work because they usually return to the office to write copy on a computer. As Reporters

type their copy, it can appear simultaneously on their screen and the editor's terminal screen, or the story can be sent to the editor after it has been polished. From the editor, it is transmitted to the composing room computer that produces the story. Sometimes, to meet deadlines, reporters deliver their news story over the telephone or use portable computers to enter the story, which is then sent by modem directly to the newspaper's computer system. This activities done for the fast and excellent work of delivering procedure, because of these theories of using electronic and computer devices in deliveries improve the quality and service of their business.

Batch Systems
There is no specific Operating System in Batch era; however, there is an example machine that supports this category. One example is the IBM 029 Card Punch. The software interface was similarly unforgiving, with very strict syntaxes meant to be parsed by the smallest possible compilers and interpreters.

Interactive Systems
In Interactive Systems, IBM introduced the DOS (Disk Operating System). It is a single-user, single-task operating system with basic kernel functions that are non-re-entrant: only one program at a time can use them. There is an exception with Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) programs, and some TSRs can allow multitasking.

Real-time Systems
The Operating System for this category is called ROS (Real-time Operating System) is intended to serve real-time application requests. It can usually or generally meet a deadline is a soft real-time OS, but if it can meet a deadline deterministically it is a hard real-time OS and has an advanced algorithm for scheduling.

Hybrid Systems
The Maruti Operating System is the example for the Hybrid Systems. The commands generated by the agent (logic unit) programs are sent to a system's controllers and actuators in a timely manner, and the data collected by the sensors are transmitted to the agent programs in order to generate well-accounted commands on time.

Embedded Systems
One Operating System supports this category is Linux. It is a modular Unix-like operating system. Such a system uses a monolithic kernel, the Linux kernel, which handles process control, networking, and peripheral and file system access. Device drivers are either integrated directly with the kernel or added as modules loaded while the system is running.

FIELDTRIPS AND SEMINARS

University of Southeastern Philippines
Bo. Obrero Campus
Institute of Computing

TRAVEL REPORT
October 4-8, 2010
Manila-Laguna-Tagaytay

Fieldtrip Overview

Day 1
Today, I went on a company visit to Bayan Telecommunications, Inc. located at Quezon City, Manila, Philippines. After we took our lunch at Jade Valley, Timog Ave., Quezon City, we directly went there and have some discussions regarding their company. Indeed, they are the competitors of the PLDT which was visited also by the other groups separated to our appointment with them.
What I learned?
I learned in their company that in their network operations, there are 72 workstations and 2 TV monitors, it detects potential network problems and has real-time network surveillance and monitoring. In Metro Manila LEC network, there are 485 Outside Plant Access Cabinets (OPAC’s) and 28 Hardened Remote Access Interface Units (HRAIU’s) that access all the connections within Metro Manila subscribers through NMS which represented by the NOC Engineers. In their base station controller, the mobile switching center is the main switch for their technical operations which includes the Network Operators, Transmission Operators and the Data Operators. Their common problem that they encounter in their operations is the interference and the modems that sometimes occurs failure and malfunctioning. They also added that the operating system they are using is the Linux.
What I liked?
What I liked in their company was that, they welcome us hospitably and entertained us well. They shared a lot of information to us although not all of it but satisfied me though; I understand that they are also protecting the privacy for their company.
What I didn’t like?
What I didn’t like was they haven’t really fixed their appointment with us because during the discussion and the power point presentation they were in a hurry which we found that they had a meeting after our turn of visit. So, we haven’t much time to ask some questions that we want to have an answer.
Day 2
Today, I went on a campus visit to University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. We attended the seminar for IT students as a continuation also of Y4IT seminar conducted last September 2010 which was a benefit for us USeP students. On the afternoon, after the continuation of the seminar, we visited the IBM Company, followed by the UP Ayala Techno Hub; both are located within UP area.

What I learned?
The first speaker introduced to us was Prof. Lemuel Rodolfo Braña, who gave us his welcome address and has more than 16 years of experience in various areas of Information Technology. Next speaker was Ms. Rose Ann Sale who discussed about “The Winning Thesis”, there, I’ve learned from her not to be so focus on what you are doing, do it with what you want and what you are, the topic you should choose is the thing that is related to you and of course not the one you hate and irritates you; followed by the next speaker Mr. John Boaz Lee who discussed about “Visualization of Data” which showed us the comparison of data to all aspects of life that relates with it, from basic to tough factors that may be the cause of conflict to your data. Next was, Ms. Michelle Moscatel who shared about “Design and Implementation of Personalized Learning Environment” which explains the hardware part that includes Modules, Projects, Learner Profile, Assessment and Social Network. Next was my favorite of all the speakers who inspired me the most, Ms. Len de Gracia who shared about “Animation”, she let us saw some of her works and her company where she’s working, she stands for the line “good grades are not important, it is the passion in you..” all of us said “wow!” we were all awake at that moment and attentively listened to her, I can say that we enjoyed with her career discussion. Next was, Prof. Carlos Bott who worked with Apple II in 1984! I was so amazed. He shared about “Mobile Device Game Development” that gave us information about the most popular games in this century, with their software tools used, the languages, online flat forms and many more. Last but not the least was Dr. Ferdinand Pitagan who shared about “Empowering the Nation through Educational Technology” which inspires us the technology benefits and how it changes the community and our lives as time passes by. Later, we went to IBM Company and learned that they are now engaged not in computer products but in marketing already. Afterwards, we went to the Ayala Techno Hub which we knew that they are producing a advanced cable television that you may record movies or shows you want; it is more related to networking.
What I liked?
I liked it because we were so overwhelmed with the entertaining tarpaulins displayed and the souvenirs they gave. In addition to that, we really learned a lot from the speakers. With regards to IBM, the manager was so nice and very resourceful; and in the Ayala Techno Hub workers are so hospitable and very easy to approach and ask what you want.
What I didn’t like?
What I did not like was not related to the lectures discussed, instead, it is the environment’s temperature, or the cold brought by the air-conditioned within the auditorium that disturbed our focus to the speaker and made us sleepy; and to the IBM which did not gave all of us a souvenir, more specifically the IBM bag,.

Day 3
Today, I went on a company visit to Advance Science & Technology Institute (ASTI) located at C.P. Garcia, UP, Diliman, Quezon City. After lunch, we proceed to our visit at Social Security System on East Ave., Quezon City.
What I learned?
I learned about them are their Information and Communications Technologies program that aims to adopt, and develop strategic and R&D activities in the areas of information and communication technologies, composes-Advanced Networking Research, Wireless Technologies, and Network Applications and Software. Also, the Microelectronics Program that seeks to develop a state-of-the-art microelectronics design facility where one can do quality R&D work and cultivate a skilled workforce adept in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design through training and exposure to actual design work, composes-Digital, RF, Analog and Mixed-Signal Microelectronics R&D, Printed Circuit Board Laboratory, ASTI-VCTI Open Laboratory; last is the Technology Transfer Program that pursues dynamic assimilation of research results by industry, academe, NGO's and government instrumentality. It aims to transfer R&D outputs and advanced know-how through Technology diffusion/commercialization, Collaborative R&D, Conduct of trainings and seminars, and Industry studies. Afterwards, we went to SSS and learned about their operations on tracking people, how their databases work, how they make the ID card.

What I liked?
What I liked about them is they deserve as a model to us teenagers who passionately doing advanced technologies through science and encouraged us to be motivated in the field where we are tracking now. In SSS, well, the most hospitable of all, very overwhelming welcome for us, and we really did not neglect. In addition to that, they gave us snacks and very nice tour guide within their facilities.
What I didn’t like?
I did not like so much the presentation in ASTI because it’s really too serious and must be focused to listen, but it made us sleepy and been tired to our seats. Truly, it’s like just for smart and intelligent people, no entertainment or crack from the topic while discussing it not thinking if the listeners understand them or like to listen with them. I don’t have dislikes about SSS, .
Day 4
Today, I went on a company visit to Hitachi GST at Biñan, Laguna. When we entered in there, while we’re still outside the security is very strict, no bringing of cameras, cell phones are allowed but not its camera, in short, “no taking of pictures” which is so sad for me because we have no remembrance for this visit. When we enter the building, each of us wore a foot cover which is a policy in this company for all visitors, then they gave us ID to recognize us as guests. In the conference room, they played some movies and videos for us related to their company, it was really fun and interesting, it really motivates me a lot especially when they said that almost of their workers are girls because according to them girls are more patient than boys and girls have smooth hands. Before the time of the tour in the manufacturing of their product, they let us wear their company jacket, wow! But not for a souvenir, it is a must when you enter there. There are 4 divisions which the making of the slider is being done. We saw all the facilities. It’s really fun.

What I learned?
Hitachi is really a computer related company that we haven’t missed. They shared more about the hardware part. The product that they introduced to us was the slider which is a part of the hard drive in a computer, the one attach to the hard disk. The slider composes the gold, thin and copper in its appearance. First, it’s just like a form of a blank CD, later it will be cut horizontally. This thing can hold a 38 tera bites, we can’t really imagine how it is buts just like a tiny thing. You can put more or less 300 movies in that not counting the mp3’s, pictures and other documents in your PC. In this type of memory, the files are surely not be corrupted because the process of saving data in here is parallel, because, according to them, the cause of corrupted files is that the two processors will override each other that’s why some files are being corrupted. In this case, the two processors are parallel vertically to each other, that’s why they will never override each other so no more corrupted datas in your computer! However, because this is an awesome capacity of such slider, the price of it is really expensive, as I remember; it costs 4million pesos each slider, unaffordable for us poor, but really an advantage for computer companies.
What I liked?
What I like in this company is that they entertained us well and good, we learned a lot from them and it inspire us students.
What I didn’t like?
I don’t like the “no taking of pictures” policy. 
Day 5
Today, I went on a company visit to Telecoms Training Institute at Valenzuela and to MMDA (Traffic Engineering) at Mandaluyong.

What I learned?
I learned about TTI is they are more focus to telecommunication which is more likely in networking too. They showed us the different functions of their hardwares like RJ 45 and etc. In MMDA or Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is the monitoring of highways 24/7, where did they hide the surveillance cameras, how did they control the traffic lights. Speaking of traffic lights, it is controlled by a program when it will be green, yellow, or red. Each lane has a detector that detects the volume of cars and trucks, then the program will instantiate a certain time for green, yellow and red. In addition to that, the roads have a loop which circulates to get the whole volume of the certain road. On the other hand, Emelda Marcos was the first founder of the MMDA and the first chairman was Jejomar Binay.
What I liked?
What I like is that the moment we visited there because we knew how traffic lights work and how they easily respond through accidents which an ordinary people don’t know how it works, only just continue as life goes on not exploring the things around them.
What I didn’t like?
I have no comment in this part. 

APPENDIX
I recommend to Fieldtrip and Seminar Program in this curriculum a nearer destination so that the parents of the students cannot be hard for them to find money and a peace of mind that their son/daughter is so far, that no 100% assurance for them to think that their child is safe, this feeling could not be denied among us who’ve been there. There are computer related companies also at Cebu according to my Aunt; perhaps it was the first capital of the Philippines. Another thing is that, the advisers should have the fixed date and time who would’ve accompany the students in their trip, not would be the reason why it will be postponed because of him or her, that would be the reason of missing some important events on a place that they could learn much. I hope this will not take personally.
My advice to those who will take their Fieldtrip and Seminar program in the near future is do not just go with the flow, shout your right. Do not force a thing that you cannot get, many would cause this to a bad result. The last is, learn and have fun, kill joys are not allowed, this will happen once in the most unforgettable moment in your life.

Personal Traits Test Reflection

We define traits to distinguish qualities or characteristics of a person. It is a readiness to think or act in a similar fashion in response to a variety of different stimuli or situations. People may differ as to their aspect of living and their personal intension in every privilege they encounter. In short, traits are continuous, degree and quantitative to people.
Personal traits are divided into four factors– physical, vital, mental and spiritual. The traits of awareness and insightfulness appears at the mental level; our various attitudes at the vital level; and our physical well being and strength at the physical level, it may be positive or negative response to environment or to socialization with other people, and it defines the inner and outer orientation of one’s self; psychologically and socially.
There are so many ways in order to develop your personal traits. Hidden knowledge may immerge that will arise your confidence and motivation to different skills you’re not interested with since then. The fundamental and spiritual capacities enable achievement, fulfillment, and personal growth, and also the negative capacities retard achievement and personal growth.
Personal traits have different components or fields that contain kinds of skills which is the key of economic development in a certain place, one is the entrepreneurial skills. We are convinced that the one who is the brain of the economy are the capitalists and entrepreneurs; the importers and exporters of different products from one place to another; the one who trades and indorses the beauty and quality of a product and view which may help to increase more tourists and investors that lead to an industrialized country.
We can say that we have entrepreneurial skill in our own ways but we may not know how poor we are in each aspect of this field. We can determine these personal traits by taking first a test that will let you know where to adjust and where to remain steady because there is a wide range of skills to be seen to become a certified entrepreneur.
I took this test required by our professor in order to know what and how capable we are in the field of entrepreneurship. I’ve got the score of 42 out of 60 items that resulted to ‘somewhat an entrepreneur’. I felt glad on that moment because I am in the average level to become an entrepreneur. As I remember my previous examination, the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE), I’ve got poor score in my entrepreneurial skills, I felt sad to think that I cannot be an entrepreneur someday instead my exam evaluation is I am an artistic type and good in social field. Then, I ask myself, how could I use these skills to make money with poor entrepreneurial skill? I didn’t mind that thought because it could make my head ache. Until then, I was enrolled in this prestigious institution where I was able to help myself in financial problem. The test may contain the management skills that will define the ability to manage your time and people successfully; communication skills that will define your ability to sell your ideas and persuade others; the ability to work both as part of a team and independently; to be able to plan, coordinate and organize effectively; financial literacy that will identify what are you in keeping, balancing and spending money wisely; could be able to research markets, suppliers, customers and the managing the competition among other establishments and merchandises; by being a self-disciplined, adaptable to other opinions and willing to learn from mistakes and failure; to have an innovation to thinking and creativeness; can handle multi-tasking; responsible in making decisions; to work under pressure; having perseverance; competent; willing to take the risk which means who can still stand up even if you encounter failure; and can make networks or contacts that will invest and help the business to grow. These skills are useful to internal entrepreneurs and would also benefit all employees within a business and so are useful for graduates to have. As I’ve known, many of these skills, such as communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, are already promoted within existing degrees. In addition to business related skills are, being able to draw up a business plan for a new venture, able to market and sell a new product or idea, financial skills, such as book-keeping and calculating tax, awareness of intellectual property and possibly patent law, will be of use to entrepreneurs.
Developing entrepreneurial skill is important to anyone who plans and preparing a business for a new or potential enterprise to remember that they should not just be looking at those skills which are needed right at this moment, but also those which will be required as the business starts to expand. As a rule of thumb, the smaller the business, the wider the range of skills that the owner-manager will need to operate the business, particularly in the early stages of its development. It is important therefore, to draw up a skills profile for the business identifying the diverse range of expertise required. You should have the knowledge and expertise of the goods or services which you plan to provide, and how the customers will make use of them. From the customer’s perspective, the supplier is the specialist who is expected to answer all of the awkward questions. To enable you to research your market, to design marketing plan to promote and distribute your goods or services. Many owner-managers set up in business in an area, with which they are already familiar, and so have some basic knowledge of their market, but there is still a need to maintain objectivity, particularly when estimating market share and sales volumes. We know that sales skills often assumed to be the same as marketing skills, but there is a distinct difference. You may have an excellent product, and a market ripe to take it, but you still need the skills to persuade your customers or your distributors that it is your product they should be using or retailing, rather than one supplied by a competitor. In the early stages of developing your business, you may not be able to afford to pay a full-time sales person and may have to do the job yourself. You must also have the ability to plan and organize yourself and your business, to ensure that your staff, resources, materials, finished goods, etc., are in the right place at the right time. Careful planning and attention to detail enables you to make the most productive use of time and resources, and to avoid costly waste. In decision making, have the facility to analyze problems, identify and evaluate options, and to make objective and rational decisions, including how they will be made to work effectively. Moreover, financial skills is keeping a day-to-day accounts is not necessarily the best to use of the owner-manager’s time, as a part-time bookkeeper or accountant would probably be much more cost effective. However, it is still important for the owner to be able to understand the accounting procedures. In particular, it is essential to have a basic understanding of budgetary planning and control, in order to keep the business on-track, and to spot any potential problems. There may also be a need for the owner to be involved in credit control and debt collection. On the other hand, a customer service skill is not just the case of keeping the customers satisfied by providing a consistently high standard of service. For small firms one of the biggest headaches in dealing with customers is debt collection, and persuading your customers to pay their bills on time without the risk of offending them or losing their business. In your employee’s side, I think it’s better to supervise, delegate work, train and motivate staff to get the best out of them. The importance of this is often underestimated, and for new owner-managers who have never previously been involved with managing staff. One of the hardest aspects is that of delegation – trusting the staff to get on with their own jobs without constant close scrutiny, so that the owner can get on with the job of running the business. All of these are helpful to have a successful business by being this kind of character. (download-it.org)
According to Elizabeth Miranda, one definition of the term ‘entrepreneurial skills’ comes from Steve Jobs, the US computer engineer and industrialist who is noted as saying, “I am convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from non-successful ones is pure perseverance”. Through this thought, it’s like a lighting that passes in my mind which opened my eyes wider to have more motivation and hard work in this course that I am taking right now - specifically, the Technopreneurship that molds us to be competent in many ways of planning a business, being a good entrepreneur, showing us the techno ventures – the Human resources who are the research thinker, idea generator, innovator, developer-implementer, technical people, scanner and marketing people and the financer; the Environment which are the science parks, incubation centers, academic institutions, R&D centers, having internet access, communication and other support services, geographic accessibility, and the venture mentoring services; the Laws and policies which are the Intellectual Property Rights Office , Technology Licensing Office that facilitates commercialization of inventions, and legal services; and the Financial resources who are the venture capitalists and investors, business sector, funding agencies, and the financial services; which quoted as ‘HELF’ that really helps us to learn more with this ecosystem. It revealed some basic facts that business start from ideas, but ideas alone do not make a business; customers do not buy ideas, they buy products and services which is definitely right; customers pay the price, value is what they get; and a marketable product may not result a viable business. Work now is no limit of age, even the months old baby already earn money! We can see this basis in advertisements and shows, right? So, we can conclude that anyone has the capacity in a business, in any ways, in any styles, etc. our physical may help, the passion, ideas, motivation and perseverance is typically the puzzle parts to form an object that may lead you to success and be glad to face the crowd, yell to everyone, and shout out your name to the world that you’re not just good, but great.
The implication of using this personal traits test approach is you can get to have an understanding of what sort of personality underpins a certain type of behavior, as well as the more general workings of personality. It really determines of whom you are and what are you within a business just what like I’ve realized after I took it. It reminds you yourself each of the items that contains the options of what are you. You will know yourself better than what you already know before this. Once you get either of these results by scores – (1-25) less entrepreneur; (26-45) somewhat an entrepreneur; (46-above) or very entrepreneur. When you got the lowest score, it’s time for you to learn most of the characteristics above which I mentioned earlier, if you get the average score, well, you should still learn more characteristics being a good entrepreneur, lastly, if you will get the excellent score, good for you because you have the knowledge and skill to be an entrepreneur, the thing you will do is to keep it and enhance it more. However, cheating is not allowed in this test, if so, you are also cheating yourself. This is a test to yourself capacity, this is not time for academic tolerance. Just enjoy answering and don’t fool and lie to yourself, if you know yourself better, it will be easy for you to develop what are the dos and don’ts. Be motivated, be wise and open minded to all aspects you encounter, to become a great entrepreneur.

Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or Why Not?

Dreaming is free. But doing to fulfill it is being an extravagant to the brain and body. Imagine you have to spend a lot of time, energy, etc. to learn all you have to learn within the career you choose, but there’s no problem about it, the important is you love it, otherwise, handle it. Dreaming far from the demands of economy can also make you far from being wealthy.
Over the past forty years, the computer industry has taken fantastic leaps and bounds to where it is today. One of the most influential people during this time was Steve Jobs. Not only was Jobs an integral part of the rise in personal computing, but he was an excellent motivator for those working under him and those inspiring to be like him. Job’s introduction to computers was through a summer job at Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, California. Here, Jobs met Steve Wozniak, an electronics guru. Although both Jobs and Wozniak were both extremely talented, they dropped out of their respected colleges soon after meeting. [Halliday, 1983, p. 205]
Career planning is a lifelong process, which includes choosing an occupation, getting a job, growing in our job, possibly changing careers, and eventually retiring. Yet every individual will focus on career choice and the process one goes through in selecting an occupation. This may happen once in our lifetimes, but it is more likely to happen several times as we first define and then redefine ourselves and our goals. I mean, Steve Jobs? Truly his jobs adequately fit to his lifelong, challenging yet successful closure of his endurance.
Today, and more than ever, most people are responsible for building their own careers. Yes, they did. Actually, as I travel along my journey, of course as a student there are lots of things I’ve encountered and needed to face to reach my chosen career in the future.
As I refresh and illuminate my fertile young mind along in this computer keyboard and monitor, meditating which and what part in my life would be useful in choosing my career; there’s a lot things I’ve done that should be learned and acquired to, even a bunch of lists and a 24 hr. day writing and typing can’t do either.
Furthermore, in generalization of those long-lists of ideas and experiences, I’ve top these things into nine most important career planning experiences should be keep in mind.
First stop; never stop learning. Life-long learning is your keyword. The world is constantly changing, and everybody is looking for new ways of doing business. If you have decided that your current skills are good enough, you have also decided that your current job is good enough. But if you want a career in the future, you should add regular updates to your skills and knowledge. Well, if you stop on grade one you wouldn’t get huge companies as Steve Jobs do.
Second stop; ask, listen and learn. A good listener can learn a lot. Listen to your co-workers, your boss, and your superiors. You can learn a lot from their experience. Ask about issues that interest you, and listen to what they say. Let them tell you about how things work, and what you could have done better. Most people will love to be your free tutor. And facts would not come on you if you don’t actually seek them.
Third on the list; fulfill your current job. Your current job might be best place to start your career. It is often very little that separates successful people from the average. But nothing comes free. If you do your job well and fulfill your responsibilities, this is often the best way to start a new career. Talk to your friends about things you can do. Suggest improvements. Offer your help when help is needed. In return ask for help to build a better career. It is often possible - right inside your own organization especially if you have proved to be a valued employee. Always remember; you can’t fulfill others career unless you thoroughly manage your own.
Fourth; build your network. My next career step might arise from my contact network. Did you know that more than 50% of all jobs are obtained from contact networks? If you have a good contact network, it is also a good place to discover future careers, to explore new trends, and to learn about new opportunities. Spend some time building new contacts, and don't forget to maintain the ones you already have. One of the best ways to get serious information from your network is to regularly ask your contacts how they are, what they do, and what is new about their careers. You can’t stand a business unless many people know your product is the best.
Fifth; identify my current job. Your current job should be identified, not assumed. Make sure you don't work with tasks you assume are important. This is waste of time and talent. When you start in a new job, talk to your superior about your priorities. If you're not sure about what is most important, then ask him. And ask him again. Often you will be surprised about the differences between what you assume, and what is really important. Note: you can’t serve two masters at once!
Sixth; identify my next job. Your dream job must be identified. Before you start planning your future career, be sure you have identified your dream job. In your dream job, you will be doing all the things you enjoy, and none of the things you don't enjoy. What kind of job would that be? Do you like or dislike having responsibility for other employees. Do you like to work with technology or with people? Do you want to run your own business? Do you want to be an artist, a designer or a skilled engineer? A manager? Before building your future career your goal must be identified. Perhaps you’re like walking in a path for no reason not knowing where to go.
Seventh; prepare yourself. Your dream might show up tomorrow. Be prepared. Don't wait a second. Update your knowledge now, and continue to update it regularly. Tomorrow your dream job may show up right before your nose. Prepare for it with a professional knowledge and be ready to describe yourself as a valuable object to anyone that will try to recruit you. If you don't know how to write planners, or how to describe yourself, start learning it now. For the fact that you can’t even guess you’ll be a millionaire tomorrow!
Eight on the list; pick the right tools. Pick the tools you can handle. You can build your future career using a lot of different tools. Studying at top-school is easy. Taking a full master degree is more complicated. You can add a lot to your career by studying books and tutorials. Doing short time courses with certification tests might add valuable weight to your knowledge. And don't forget: Your current job is often the most valuable source of building new skills. Don't pick a tool that is too heavy for you to handle!
Last on deck; realize my dreams. Put your dreams into action. Don't let a busy job kill your dreams. If you have higher goals, put them into action now. If you have plans about taking more education, getting a better job, starting your own company or something else, you should not use your daily job as a "waiting station". Your daily job will get more and more busy, you will be caught up in the rat race, and you will burn up your energy. If you have this energy, you should use it now, to realize your dreams. Remember an apple won’t fall directly to your mouth unless you seize and bite it, you can eat it as a whole, but you’re throat would tremble either. Dreams are chewed slowly to have better digestion.
Obviously, I am taking Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Southeastern Philippines. Do you think there’s anything more occupational to take than what like Steve Jobs did? Of course, a big YES would satisfy this unending career choosing.

How do you see yourself as a Technopreneur

Owning a business requires a lot. There are more requirements to starting and maintaining a business today. An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages a business undertaking and partaking a risk for the sake of profit. They also show improvement on a daily basis in how they serve customers, manage employees, and try hard to improve their operations. In other words, they should utilize the four crucial functions in management.
The first step is planning. Starting a business doesn’t happen overnight. Bill Gates, on the other hand, is a different story. He made it big overnight in 1979, when he created “Windows”, an interactive desktop interface. But entrepreneurs aren’t as fortunate as Bill Gates, so business owners has to plan. The first decision, an entrepreneur must make is what type of business he or she wants to start. The decision should be based on the amount of knowledge and skill that they have in the field that they are considering.
Current economic research denies the innate characteristics of the entrepreneur. Rather than attributing economic growth and innovation to personality traits, economists would rather advocate a form of economic determinism: if an aggressive personality dominated an industry, economists try to explain the characteristics of the industry that made aggression a successful strategy. Economic models are contrived to remove the personality from the entrepreneur, to make all entrepreneurial decisions predestined, given enough time. However, to deny Bill Gates’ or Steve Jobs’ role in economic history is equivalent to denying Hitler’s role in creating a Nazi Germany or Castro’s role in creating a Communist Cuba. Claiming that history or economics is deterministic is silly. Entrepreneurs are people who make decisions; their decisions need not fall out of dry economic models, just as no literary model could predict the words of Shakespeare and no historical model could predict the future. However, we must be systematic in our approach to identifying entrepreneurial characteristics and not fatuously assert that entrepreneurs drive economic change. Instead, we must link specific entrepreneurial tasks to specific entrepreneurial traits with the goal of understanding how these traits crucially affect the evolution of a business from a startup to Fortune 500 Company.
Statistics shows that the lowest averages of demand jobs are computer related occupations that typically requires at least bachelor’s degree as of 2004-2014. This means that there are only few that are interested in computer concern which is very opportunity to us IT students to have much motivation with our field. We should train ourselves to be an artist in our own ways that would make us ready to pass in a needle hole-a way to success. If I can pass through, good start of a new beginning of another challenge, otherwise, I need more discipline to myself and do it again until I’ll get it. What I mean is the PhilNITS (Philippine National Information Technology Standard) Examination; it’s like a board exam for IT people who strive long years of learning to operate computers and become developers of the systems and the webs with different languages used in programming, web making, many ways in networking and more, minor courses also molded us to be more aware to other things, although it is not our focus but really been made us to be, even if we don’t want to. I’m sure this would be a big help on the process through success and being an employer, not a job seeker. Working abroad is not the answer to uplift your career. It is the place where you are molded, and then it is also the place where you will vein your career. On my own thinking, I would probably loan to a bank that would sustain my knowledge to create an agency that renders computer related services to huge companies. Then later, as my business is on its way to grow, I will now hire intelligence persons to help me out and reach excellence in this business. I will look for a good attitude in working, the passion for this job, on how he/she handles everything when he/she will be my employee. Training would be effective for me to observe such applicants to see their great interest of the job they want to work with, a determination to learn more aside of their experiences and knowledge. As we go through, if God let me, I will build other branches to access other large companies that need our services, of course, another opportunity also to people who are jobless in this field. Then, later and later, our economy will climb up, community develops, and country will now be a phenomenon, to Asia, to all continents, or the whole world! Imagine, first, I help myself, then the people who are in need, then the economy, the community, then the country, later the world. This might be a history, and can be an inspiration to everyone.
Well, if I’m dreaming? I’d rather not woke up; this is the best dream I’ve ever had on my entire life. Dreaming of being an entrepreneur was never my in plan since when I was kid. Now, I’ve realized that things are just there, if you just have the passion on it then you can get it. Learning to love what you have is like keeping a mule, first it’s just a nothing, but as time passes by, demands are on it, its value became huge that you never thought it was, because we admit it or not, people used to find something that doesn’t existing with them anymore, although they have it before. Now we’re woke up, let’s make ourselves think that we are learning to help others someday, not the one who is begging for a help, or the one who is hoping for a future to drop by on his front. To sum up, let’s work on and think to be an employer someday, the one who is destined to change the community, which is now one of the poorest country in this century. Let’s make our image change, start it with yourself before other matters, it will just follow you. Being this kind of dream of mine is very impossible, with my grades almost make me down, with this institution that would probably make me crazy, I will not stop dreaming, I can do this, and we can do these IT students, they need us. “The world needs IT”.

Factors that contributed to Success and Failure of Steve Jobs as a Technopreneur

Succeeding is the measure of what we can be versus what we are, and what we are as opposed as to what we would like to become. Success doesn't come whenever we become what others expect from us, even if it means achieving possessions and positions envied by others. You don't succeed by becoming what others want you to become; they might, as manipulators, but not certainly you. So if you want to succeed, the first success that you have to achieve is to be candid with yourself in order to know if what you think that you want is really what you want, and separate your inner convictions from outside suggestions or impositions which may have been well-intended or not, but certainly are not yours. On the other hand, failure is not to remain far away from your goals, but to cease trying to reach them. We need to remember that we are humans whenever we succeed and whenever we fail.
You live as what you are living, but as you go through life time change you; motivating or discouraging incidents happen just like what the movie I’ve watched “Pirates of the Silicon Valley” wherein Steve Jobs just start as being him, just simple, but then discovered something interesting that maybe made him obsessed to achieve what he thought but was never his plan before it happened. “Information is Power”, that’s what he said when his friend built the blue box that makes a free long distance call anywhere in the world.
His motivation about computers that time was not yet born; it was all started by his friend Woz who showed much more interest to computers. He was just determined to earn money. When his frustrated or angry, then he did anything or go to some place that would make him feel free just to be happy. He feeds and feeds his self of happiness, then later back to normal mood. When the first computer they ever built was showed at Homebrew Computer Club, they sold 50$ then later and later they got bigger money sold by that computer, that motivated him to defeat IBM. The first trouble was that Woz was working with HP and he promised his father to give the first chance anything that he invent, but he did make a way to make them hate it. The next is Steve wants to get a loan to the bank but he doesn’t look like a businessman, so he keep on making ways just to get a loan from the bank to sustain their invention. Then they called themselves Apple making little computers in Steve’s garage, until someone came, Mike Markula the intelligence person of Intel who funded Apple Computers about quarter million dollars.
Through a Computer fair happened in San Francisco, Apple was later a huge Company, and Steve Jobs?? He really looks differently compared before with forehead straight walking behind him were the people of Apple. He is now a huge person, a big change was happened to him, boastful, demanding, and any other negative attitudes was seen into him, he doesn’t care about the feelings of anyone, he wants to uplift Apple and undeniably also his self. He doesn’t want people that he feels that could ruin Apple or could trait him, he wanted to secure honesty and loyalty to him, he chose people, “you got to be careful which door you open” he was wise, but not too much. He doesn’t listen of what other people say, the advices of his friend made him like deaf, he is selfish, he only thinks of his self, he is self-centered, but, there was a little twist on him, when his first daughter born, he was so frustrated to name her any kind of weird name by his girlfriend so he called her Lisa. It was also the name of the first big new project of Apple. Steve was so happy even if he denied the baby that she is his, people wondered why he insisted that name to the new computer.
On the way, he want more, and he believe that “good artists copy, great artists steal”, so he want more stuff to make his computer great. He wanted to steal Xerox, who makes the mouse, graphics on the screen and any other stuff that the California engineers made. He persuaded Xerox brass to present to them what they made to take some information about the graphics interface, and they did really take it that leads to another big money for them. However, here is Bill Gates, offering him to work with Apple, with beautiful words that Bill gates spoke onto Steve; he gave the three prototypes of the Macintosh which was slowly kills him down. He had tear off the Apple into pieces, Apple II people separated against Macintosh team. Another problem came, Time Magazine make a story about Arlene, his girlfriend and the baby, it says she’s asking for $20,000, Mark said that just give what she want because he can afford it but he resisted.
Later, he discovered that Bill is stealing from Apple by creating Windows to compete with them. Moreover, Bill is the wisest person I’ve ever know, he convinced Steve that Windows is just nothing, that it doesn’t have a threat to Apple. But then, when the video Steve shown to the Apple people that contain their engineers unpacking the Japanese Computers with first copies of Windows Bill created which mostly looks like Macintosh, all things was miserable to Steve, it really ruined his huge carrier. That time he realized what he had done, he trusted, believed but then made him fooled. He and Steve argued and all the hurt feelings were out at that time, but Steve insisted that Apple is better than Microsoft, but Bill only said “that doesn’t matter”. When Steve’s 30th birthday party came, that was the worst gift he had ever had his entire life I think. Three months later, the president of Apple Computers Inc. John Scully fired Steve Jobs.
After all these things, all he needs is just a family, the thing that couldn’t be paid any happiness.
“Sometimes, you find things that are more important to you than the things you think are important…maybe just its getting older”. You do anything to please everyone, to lift your life status, but doing it without staying your feet on the ground is much worse than being just a beggar. The cause of success is the one which made you down but still motivate you to stand up and continue. Life has full of failures, but in order to fight it is to deal it without fear to face another of it, you can’t get the meaning of winning unless you tear off thinking you’re losing, that’s the key to success.
